Chroma-Q Solutions Deliver a Winning Performance for Silverstone’s BRDC British Grand Prix Party Celebrations

UK – Chroma-Q®s Color Force II™ and Space Force™ LED fixtures, controlled by the Vista 3 by Chroma-Q® lighting & media control system, provided a winning performance for the British Racing Drivers’ Club’s (BRDC) legendary British Grand Prix Party at the Silverstone Circuit.

Attracting high-profile BRDC members and personalities, the Party is staged within the BRDC Farm grounds during the Formula 1® Rolex British Grand Prix weekend.

For the marquee, Chroma-Q’s award-winning LED fixtures created a relaxed environment during the day, and transformed it into a lively and vibrant atmosphere at night. Color Force II LED wash lights delivered immersive colour-changing effects alongside Space Force LED soft lights providing general ambient illumination.

To celebrate 25 years since BRDC member, Damon Hill OBE won the 1994 F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone, an enclosed display of his race-winning FW16 Williams car and Clay Regazzoni’s 1979 FW07 car – which gave the team its first ever F1 Grand Prix victory – were also illuminated by Space Force fixtures.

In addition, an outdoor ‘Union Jack’-arranged flower wall which proved a popular photos backdrop for attendees, was lit using Color Force II fixtures enclosed in a custom water-proofing housing.

Two Vista 3 systems provided powerful and flexible control for the lighting schemes featuring approximately 200 fixtures. One was used for controlling the daytime looks and also ‘busking live’ during the evening parties inside the marquee, and one for controlling the architectural lighting in the Farm grounds. With space at a premium, the Vista EX control surface provided lots of physical controls within an ultra-compact footprint.

Andy Walne-Smith, production manager for the event commented: “We’re really happy with the Chroma-Q lighting fixtures and Vista control. The Color Force II battens offered a choice of dynamic looks and effects, and the Space Force soft lights were perfect as high quality, low heat solutions to light the marquee and cars.

He continued: “This was backed up by the Vista 3 control system which, owing to its programming via timeline and visual interface, allowed for quick pre-programming as well as busking looks live each night, bringing the site to life and complementing the event’s vibrant atmosphere indoors and outdoors.”
